Queens teams head to provincials

Three Thunder Bay Queens teams will be heading to Southern Ontario to compete in the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association Provincials Champion Tournament.

THUNDER BAY — Three Thunder Bay Queens teams will be heading to Southern Ontario to compete in the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association Provincials Champion Tournament: The Sportop Midget AA Queens, the Topper’s Pizza Midget A Queens and the Bantam AA Queens.

The Sportop Midget AAs get things rolling Thursday evening in a 6:00 p.m. slate against the Sudbury Lady Wolves. Friday morning at 8:15 a.m. they’ll face the Peterborough Ice Kats and then in the afternoon at 3:15 p.m., another game against the Chatham Outlaws.

Over in the Midget A division, the defending 2017 Bronze Medalist Topper’s Pizza Queens take on the Windsor Wildcats on Friday afternoon at 1:15 p.m. before playing the Aurora Panthers that evening at 8:00 p.m.. On Saturday morning, one last qualifying game at 10:30 a.m. versus the Whitby Wolves.

Meanwhile, the Bantam AA Queens also have two Friday matchups, first at 9:30 a.m. against the London Devilettes and then at 4 p.m. against the Brampton Canadettes. Saturday morning pits the Bantam AAs against the Kingston Ice Wolves in an 8:00 a.m. start.

Any remaining games will be determined by the outcomes of each team’s first three games.
