Rangers sign free agent Pyatt to 2-year contract

Taylor Pyatt is taking his game to Manhattan. The veteran Thunder Bay forward has signed a two-year, $3.1-million deal to join Lakehead blue-liner Marc Staal with the New York Rangers.

The veteran Thunder Bay forward has signed a two-year, $3.1-million deal to join Lakehead blue-liner Marc Staal with the New York Rangers.

Pyatt scored nine times and added 10 assists in 73 games with the Phoenix Coyotes, and added four goals and two assists to help lead the financially struggling franchise to the Western Conference final for the first time in team history.

Pyatt has 130 goals and 134 assists in 755 career games.

The Rangers will be the 30-year-old’s fifth team, having also spent time with the New York Islanders, Buffalo and Vancouver.
