The Carleton Ravens are the team to beat in CIS men’s basketball and showed the Lakehead Thunderwolves why on Friday night.

All-Canadian Tyson Hinz dropped 18 points on the Wolves, helping the Ravens to a 79-60 home-court win in a rematch of last year’s national championship final.

Dwayne Harvey led the way for Lakehead with nine points and six rebounds, while rookie Igor Lebov responded with 11 points and nine boards in interim coach Matt Erdman’s LU debut.

"Overall I was pleased with the effort but there has to be a commitment to rebounding on defense every possession. We didn't value the ball either. When you turn it over 14 times compared to their four, it's tough to beat any team let alone a team that makes you pay for every mistake. The focus with our group is learning how to stick to the game plan for 40 minutes on both ends,” Erdman said in a release.

Lakehead takes on Victoria on Saturday.
