KITCHENER-WATERLOO, Ont. – It’s back to the drawing board for the Lakehead Thunderwolves, who on Friday night opened OUA play on the wrong side of a lopsided decision.

The host Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks scored five times on their first 20 shots to chase Wolves newcomer Nic Renyard from the net and cruised to an 8-3 win.

Will Cook led the way for the Golden Hawks with a hat trick, Brandon Robinson adding a pair for the winning side.

Scott Gall continued his hot start, adding a pair in his OUA debut to lead LU. E.J. Faust had the T-Wolves other goal, with Dylan Butler adding a pair of helpers.

Justin McDonald took over and allowed three goals over the final two period for Lakehead, who open 0-1-0.

The two teams face off again on Saturday night.

Lakehead returns to Fort William Gardens next Friday night for their home opener against the UQTR Patriotes.
