Ryan Parent is heading back to Nashville.

The Sioux Lookout defender, fresh off a surprising run to the Stanley Cup final with Philadelpia, on Saturday was dealt back to the Predators in a trade that sent the rights to highly coveted blue-liner Dan Hamhuis to the Flyers.

Hamhuis is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Parent, 23, was the 18th overall selection of the Predators in the 2005 draft, but never played a game in Nashville and was traded to Philadelphia in the Peter Forsberg deal. Parent has spent parts of four seasons in the NHL, scoring a goal and six assists in 102 games, all with Philadelphia.

He also had a goal in 17 playoff games in 2010.

Flyers GM Paul Holmgren told NHL.com that Parent was a tough player to give up.

“I think Ryan is a good kid. He is an extremely hard worker. We certainly thank him for his services and his time here,” Holmgren said. “He has a lot of upside as a player and he is going back to an organization that obviously knows him because they drafted him.”
