Nathan Spina fired a hat-trick while Josh Elvish would add a goal and three assists to help the Northern Hawks skate past the Screaming Eagles 7-2 Tuesday night in Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League play at the Tournament Centre.

Elvish opened the scoring for the Hawks two minutes into the contest beating Eagles netminder Curtis Barker.

The Eagles would level the score before the five minute mark as Charlie Debungey notched his third of the season.

However, Justin Tougas, Jordan Andrusyk and Cole Sheehan would all tally before the opening frame was out to put the Hawks up 4-1 after 20 minutes.

Spina’s first of the night was the only marker of the middle stanza as the Hawks increased their lead with one period to play.

Travis Tom would supply a power play effort 8:02 into the third to make it 5-2, but Spina iced it by scoring twice in the late stages to complete his three-goal game.

Jordan George made 17 saves to pick up the victory for the Hawks who fired 50 on Barker in the Eagles net.

Next up on the league schedule sees the Jr. B Stars hosting the Nipigon Elks Thursday evening
at the Tournament Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
