Sportop Queens set for Stoney Creek Showcase

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens are off to southern Ontario this weekend for their first tournament of the season when they take part in the 12th annual Stoney Creek Sabres Showcase.

A total of 64 midget AA clubs from across Canada and the U.S. will be competing in the three-day event, which runs Friday through Sunday in both Stoney Creek and Hamilton, Ont.

Game action for Thunder Bay begins at 1:25 p.m. Friday as the take on the Madison Capitols of Wisconsin.

Later in the day the Queens will face-off with the Mississauga Chiefs at 8:30 p.m.

A couple more contests will be on the squad’s slate Saturday, beginning with 12:15 p.m. encounter against the California Wave.

That will be followed by a 5:55 p.m. match-up vs. the Toronto Aeros.

Further games for the Sportop Queens at the Stoney Creek Showcase will be based on their round robin results.
