Stars edge Miners with third-period PP tally

Siau’s tally, his eighth of the season, earned the Stars  (21-3-4) a 3-2 home-ice win over the English River Miners, their second straight triumph and third in four outings.

Joe Newhouse opened the scoring for Thunder Bay less than three minutes into the opening period at Fort William Gardens, but the Miners struck back, Ryker Morseau netting the equalizer at the 6:48 mark. English River took the lead at 17:44 of the first on a Dominic Blouin goal.

But the Stars responded early in the second, Aaron Wesley-Chisel tying git up 36 seconds in.

The Miners fell to 6-27-4.
