Stars lose fourth straight

The Thunder Bay North Stars slide has reached four games.
The Thunder Bay North Stars slide has reached four games.

A three-goal second period was their undoing on New Year’s Day, as the Duluth Clydesdales broke open a  1-1 tie en route to a 5-2 home-ice victory, their second in five meetings between the two Superior International Junior Hockey League teams this season.

Joe Nelson and Matt Jerulle did most of the damage for the expansion Clydesdales, scoring two goals apiece. Julius Tamasy netted the other for Duluth.

Dan Uskiski and Matt Morsette, playing just his second game for the Stars, scored for Thunder Bay (21-15-1).

The two teams hook up again on Sunday at Duluth.
