Jordan Miller tallied twice and dished out two assists to help the Jr. B Stars outlast the Nipigon Elks 8-6 Thursday in Thunder Bay Jr. B/Juvenile/AAA Hockey League action at the Tournament Centre.

Miller and Mark Black would help give the Stars a 2-1 lead after one period as they supplied goals sandwiched around the Elks Brandon Polhill’s third of the season.

Nipigon’s Alex Jeffrey would knot the proceedings on the power play five minutes into the middle frame only to see Terrance Cheechoo and Jared Wick put the Stars up a pair.

The Elks Chris Wanzuk and the Stars Joe Szura would then exchange markers before the stanza was out making it a 5-3 contest after 40 minutes.

Each side would strike three times each in the third in the high scoring affair with Sean Moulton, Black and Miller finding the back of the net for the Stars that offset tallies by Nipigon’s Jeffrey, Mitch Kerr, and Cole Saunders.

Shots on goal favoured the Stars by a 31-30 margin with Tyler Bolen picking up the win and Ryan Williams being saddled with the loss.

League play continues Friday at 7:30 p.m. as the Elks host the Northern Hawks at the Nipigon Community Centre.
