Strong morning for Queens

The Thunder Bay Queens sent three teams to Minnesota, and all three picked up Saturday morning wins. Playing in the All-American Girls hockey tournament in Blaine, MInn., three different age groups of Queens made the most of their mornings.

The Triad Contracting Peewee Queens routed the Forest Lake Rangers 9-2 to improve their tournament record to 2-0, as Molly Kunnas and Victoria Darosa combined to score eight points.

Forest Lake scored just 31 seconds into the game, but Thunder Bay replied with the next six to pave the way for the commanding win.

Samantha Stubbs picked up the shutout in between the pipes to push the Manshield Construction Bantam A Queens to a 2-0 win against the NWC River Hawks.

Delaney McLeod and Katrina Cimini tallied for the Queens, who improved their record to 1-1.

The First Glass Bantam AA Queens capped off the trifecta with a 4-1 decision against North East Metro United. 

Thunder Bay scored three times in the third for the early lead, as Julia Siciliano, Amanda Pages and Karadyn Kiviaho found the back of the net. Mackenzie Burke picked up the win in goal for the 2-0 squad.
