TORONTO – Kyle Auger is paying immediate dividends for the Lakehead Thunderwolves.

The first-year defenceman scored the game-tying goal on Saturday night and had a helper on Scott Gall’s game-winner as the Thunderwolves rallied back from a 2-0 road deficit to down the Ryerson Rams 3-2.

Brett Wolframe had LU’s other goal, getting them on the board six minutes into the middle stanza.

Auger tied it at 8:48 of the second and Gall gave them the lead for good at the 10:06 mark.

Nic Renyard made 25 stops to earn the win for Lakehead, while Troy Timpano made good on 30 of the 33 shots directed his way by the Thunderwolves.

The win improved Lakehead’s record to 6-6-2, good for sixth in the OUA West. Third-place Ryerson fell to 8-3-2 and sit alone in third place, a point ahead of Brock and Guelph.

The Thunderwolves host Laurier next weekend for a pair to close out first-half play.
