THUNDER BAY – Playing with the lead hasn’t worked out so well lately for the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
However, playing from behind worked out just fine on Friday night.
Jordan King and Dexter Kuczek scored third-period goals to erase a 3-2 deficit and went on to down the visiting Concordia Stingers 4-3 at Fort William Gardens.
The win snapped Lakehead’s four-game losing streak, all four losses coming on home ice.
King’s goal was his second of the night and fourth of the season.
His first of the game came on the power play in the opening period, after Concordia’s Carl Neill and William Leclerc staked the Stingers to a 2-0 lead.
Tomas Soustal, named the Wolves player of the month for October, added his fifth of the season, also with the man advantage, with 3:08 to go in the first to knot the game at two goals apiece.
Anthony Beauchamp gave the Stingers a 3-2 lead, scoring the only goal of the second, but the lead wouldn’t hold.
Nic Renyard stopped 40 of 43 shots to pick up the win. Marc-Antoine Turcotte stopped 41 shots at the other end of the rink.
The Wolves scored three times in six power-play opportunities. They entered play on Friday with one goal in 36 man advantage opportunities this season.
