Paul Thompson scored his first two goals in OUA play to help the Lakehead Thunderwolves put a weekend sweep at the hands of No. 1 Alberta in the rear-view mirror.

The rookie forward’s effort paced the Wolves to a 7-1 win Thursday night over the expansion Laurentian Voyageurs in Sudbury.

Justin McDonald made 25 saves to earn the win, with Jeff Bosch ready to return to action next weekend.

Ryan Magill, Nathan Bruyere, Kelin Ainsworth, Jake Carrick and Mike Quesnele also replied for Lakehead (6-1-0).

The two teams square off again on Friday night.
