It has been a busy few weeks for Lappe's biathlon racers as the season draws to a close. In mid-February several skiers attended the Quebec/Ontario biathlon championships in Chelsea, Quebec.

Thirteen-year-old Lappe skier Jett Dobson raced up in the senior boys division (15-16 year olds) and came home with two bronze medals, much to the surprise of race organizers.

Teammate Keegan Tremblay took home silver in both races.  Another Lappe skier, Matthew Vikeri finished further back in the field but his accuracy on the shooting range earned him a coveted position on the provincial team representing Ontario at the National Championships.

Both Lappe skiers joined their Lake Superior Biathlon teammates in Falcon Lake Manitoba for the Western Canadian Championships the following weekend and at this event Jett Dobson, racing against his peers, came home with a gold and silver in the junior boys division.

Team members, Tobias Quinn, finished first and second in his division races while fellow Big Thunder Nordic skier, Keegan Tremblay, added to the medal haul with silver and bronze finishes in the senior boys races.

Vikeri, Tremblay and Quinn are now preparing to join team Ontario for the upcoming Biathlon Nationals in Val Cartier Quebec; proving once again that our young Thunder Bay athletes can hold their own when it comes to all things nordic.
