Thunder Bay Canada’s choice for World Junior Baseball Championships bid

The city’s chance to host the 2015 World Junior Baseball Championships is still alive.

The city’s chance to host the 2015 World Junior Baseball Championships is still alive.

Director General of Baseball Canada, Jim Baba, confirmed Tuesday that Thunder Bay was the lone Canadian bid, meaning it will be the country's choice to host the event, which brings together the best under-20 players in the world.

But this doesn’t mean the tournament is en route. While Thunder bay will remain Canada’s choice, bids from other countries will be accepted until the end of the year.

Baba said usually three or four countries submit bids for the event.

The Thunder Bay International Baseball Association board will meet Wednesday night to finalize its plans and ensure its comfortable moving forward with its bid.

The city previously hosted this event in 2010.
