Thunderwolves leap into top 10

A 7-1 record and wins over Queen's and York this past weekend was enough to land the Lakehead's women's basketball team at No. 10.

THUNDER BAY – A 7-1 start has vaulted the Lakehead Thunderwolves into the U Sports top 10.

The women’s basketball team, fresh off home-court wins over Queen’s and York, sit 10th this week, climbing up one spot after UNBC was turfed following a pair of losses this past weekend.

The Wolves, winners of three straight, are tops in the OUA West and own a win over Carleton, the No. 7 team in the Nation.

Laval, at 4-0, is ranked No. 1, while Ryerson, who will journey to the CJ Sanders Fieldhouse this weekend, are No. 2 at 9-0.

The men’s wrestling team stayed at No. 5 this week, while the women’s wrestling squad remained at No. 10 in the country.
