WATEROO, Ont. – Patrick Chore tied it early in the third and Andrew Fritsch was the shootout hero on Saturday night for the Laurier Golden Hawks.

Lakehead Thunderwolves goaltender Nic Renyard atoned for a poor showing in Friday night’s OUA debut with 46 saves on 47 shots, but was victimized twice in the penalty-shot portion of the game as the Wolves remained winless after the season’s opening weekend.

Anthony Sorrentino led off the shootout with a goal.

Chris Festanni then stopped Billy Jenkins and Brennen Dubchak in LU’s first two attempts, Fritsch clinching it with a tally on the Golden Hawks third shot.

Jake Ringuette had the lone regulation goal for Lakehead, beating Festanni at the 14:58 mark of the second.

Chore’s goal, scored on the power play, came 3:11 into the third.

The Wolves (0-1-1) will make their home debut on Friday against the Trois Rivieres Patriotes. Laurier remained unbeaten at 2-0-0.
