The Thunder Bay Twins opened Hockey Northwestern Ontario's senior branch championship on Friday with a 5-5 tie against the Fort Frances Thunder Hawks.

The Twins will take on the host Kenora Senior Thistles on Saturday night in the final round robin game of the three-team event. The Thistles tied their opener 3-3 against Fort Frances on Thursday.
The top two teams will advance to Sunday afternoon's final for the right to play in next month's Renwick Cup in Thunder Bay against the southern Ontario champion.
