Robbie Untinen’s three-under 69 Sunday earned him sole possession of the Canadian Tire District Amateur lead.
Untinen’s three-under 141 total has him two shots in front of Bill Shewcuck, who followed Saturday’s 73 at Thunder Bay Country Club with a two-under 70 at Strathcona Golf Course.
Past champions Robert Cumming and Barry Caland shot the low rounds of the day, each finishing at four-under 68 to roar back into contention.
Cumming is four off Untinen’s pace, while Caland is seven back.
First-round leader John Shaw fell back to Earth in Round 2 with an 81, 13 more stokes than he needed the day before. He’s in fifth, eight off the lead.
Round 3 is scheduled for Whitewater, where Untinen holds the course record, on Monday.
