Not that it was anything but inevitable, but the Hammarskjold Vikings are heading back to the senior high school football playoffs.
Geordie Savela caught three passes for 75 yards and a score, while halfback Xander Hasell rushed for 45 yards and a score, propelling the Vikings (5-0-0) to a 25-19 win Friday over the Westgate Tigers (2-3-0).
Quarterback Keon Doblej threw for 149 yards and rushed for 117 more, scoring one through the air and once on the ground to pace the Tigers.
The Vikings weren’t the only school clinching a postseason berth on Friday.
The St. Patrick Saints (4-1-0) rode Matt Dychko’s rock-solid 227-yard rushing display that included three touchdowns on the ground and a 13-yard catch for a score to double the St. Ignatius Falcons 48-14 (0-5-0).
The Falcons, who were eliminated from playoff contention, were led by QB Adam Walser, who was 5-for-10 for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Elsewhere second-place Sir Winston Churchill (4-1-0) also secured a playoff date, thanks to fullback Linden Cramer, who scored twice on 152 yards rushing to help his school defeat Superior Collegiate 25-1.
