Volleyball Wolves drop another

Lakehead lost Friday for the second straight day the Mizuno-McMaster Thanksgiving Classic.

The women’s volleyball team was swept in three straight by the host Marauders, falling 25-20, 25-23 and 25-22.

Thunderwolves captain Brittany MacLeod led the way with six kills, five aces and two stuff blocks, while Sarah Reid had five kills and rookie Stephanie Chartrad had four kills, two stuff blocks and an ace.

LU coach Chris Green said it was close, but not close enough. More effort is required, he said.

"Today we stepped on the floor, and not everyone showed up for this game. We were toe to toe with this bigger, more physical team, and we battled, forcing them to fight from behind to taste victory. If we had just one more person step up and perform today, we would be whistling a different tune,” Green said in a release.

“But that is the part of the pre-season we have to get ready for the regular season. We want equal distribution, and when we get it, it opens everyone up for success. Today the close points went Mac's way.”
