Twenty-four hours after the Lakehead women’s basketball won in blowout fashion, the Laurier Golden Hawks returned the favour in the second half of their two game series, winning 75-51, Friday night at Waterloo. The loss drops LU’s record to 7-5, tied with Brock for fourth in the OUA West. Laurier improves to 5-7 and are in sixth place.

Tasia McKenna led the Wolves with 15 points with Emily Ross and Lindsay Druery adding nine apiece.

Christa Mancino paced the Hawks with 14 points while Renata Adamczyk scoring 13 points with seven rebounds.

“Tonight was a disappointing loss considering we played our best team game the night before,” said Thunderwolves head coach Jon Kreiner. “We’ve been struggling Saturday night after Friday night wins and tonight we lacked the commitment to play tough defence and lacked the composure to compete and execute under tough physical play.”

Lakehead heads back home for a two-game series with the Guelph Gryphons next Friday and Saturday.
