KINGSTON, Ont. – The Lakehead Thunderwolves held strong with the No. 1 playoff-ranked Queen’s Gaels for a quarter on Saturday night.

But they ran out of gas before the first half came to a close and saw their season come to an end, bowing out 81-53 in Round 2 of the OUA women’s basketball playoffs.

Jerika Baldin led the way offensively for LU, scoring 15 points. Gillian Lavoie, playing her final game with the Thunderwolves, was the only other player in double-digits, just getting there with 10 for the Wolves, who were tied 17-17 after the first 10 minutes.

Marianne Alarie paced the No. 5 nationally ranked Gaels with 19, Andrea Priamo and Bridget Mullholland each scoring a dozen.

Lakehead was just 2-for-12 from three-point territory.
