WBB: Thunderwolves zone in on playoffs with win over NIpissing

NORTH BAY – Bridget O’Reilly had the magic touch on Saturday night.

The Lakehead Thunderwolves forward landed five three-pointers in nine attempts to lead her squad to a 79-53 road win over the Nipissing Lakers, improving their record to 6-9 in OUA women’s basketball play. Katelyn Zen and Gillian Lavoie each netted 14 points for LU, who inched closer to locking down a playoff berth.

Entering play the Wolves, winners of two straight, were eighth in the ratings performance index. The top 12 teams make the playoffs.

Heidi Smith had a dozen to lead the Lakers (1-16).
