THUNDER BAY – Victory has still eluded the Lakehead Thunderwolves in 2017-18.

The University of Quebec at Trois Rivieres Patriotes scored three times in the first 17 minutes of the opening period on Saturday at Fort William Gardens and went on to a 4-1 win at Fort William Gardens, handing the Thunderwolves (0-3-1) their fourth straight loss to open the regular season.

Jason Lavallee, Raphael Maheux and Mathieu Lemay staked the visitors to a 3-0 lead in the first, Lemay’s coming on the power play with 3:09 to play in the first.

Scott Gall answered for the Wolves midway through the second, netting his third of the campaign, but it was all the offence the Wolves could muster, despite firing 32 shots on UQTR goaltender Alexandre Belanger.

Nic Renyard made 30 saves for the Wolves, the final goal, scored by Deven St-Hilaire, fired into the empty net.

The Patriotes improved to 4-1-0.

The last-place Thunderwolves hit the road again next weekend, travelling to Waterloo to take on the Warriors (2-1-0).
