The Winnipeg Wesmen started with a 9-0 run and never looked back.

Paced by 13 points from Kerri Kuzbyt, including three three-pointers, the host Wesmen cruised to an 88-63 pre-season win Friday night in CIS women’s basketball play.

Kelsey Bardsley led all scorers, draining 14 for Lakehead, while sophomore Katelyn Zen notched 10 points and four rebounds.

"Tonight we got severely outplayed because we didn't stick to our game plan defensively and we weren't ready for a physical game. Loose balls, turnovers and rebounding are the three keys to success and we got dominated in all three areas,” Lakehead coach Jon Kreiner said in a release.

“On a plus, Katelyn Zen played very well for us tonight. She played hard and competed in every possession she was involved in."
LU takes on Regina in Winnipeg on Saturday.
