Wolves capture consolation final in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG – The Lakehead Thunderwolves will hit the second half of the OUA men’s basketball season on a winning note.

Kache Kopec on Friday dropped 17 points on the Regina Cougars to lead the Wolves to a convincing 89-56 win in the consolation final at the Wesman Classic in Winnipeg.

Mor Menase added 15 points and four assists, while Mike Theodore chipped in 14 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting day from the field.

“Another great team effort tonight and more importantly, the whole weekend,” said LU coach Manny Furtado, in a release issued by the team.

“It’s time to start preparing for the second half of the regular season.”

The Wolves (2-5) will head to Toronto this week and open play against No. 5 Ryerson, undefeated at 7-0.
