A day after setting a single-game career high, Ryan Doornick was at it again at the Wesmen Classic in Winnipeg.

The first-year star-in-the-making scored 30 points on Tuesday, leading the Lakehead Thunderwolves to an 83-77 win over the Regina Cougars in the consolation final, their second win in three outings at the men’s basketball tournament.

Fellow freshman Mor Menashe was also showcasing his offensive abilities, netting 20 points for a second straight contest for the Thunderwolves, while veteran Alex Robichaud added 17, hauling in seven rebounds to boot.

Lakehead coach Manny Furtado like what he saw.

"This weekend was a great test for our guys to be back on the court after exams. We faced some tough competition that will hopefully prepare us for the second half of our season. We'll sit down as a team, watch some tape and correct what needs to be fixed,” he said in a release.
