Wolves hockey falls out of top 10

A pair of losses to the Western Mustangs have plummeted the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey squad out of the national top 10 rankings.

A pair of losses to the Western Mustangs have plummeted the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey squad out of the national top 10 rankings.

The Wolves (16-6), dropped to 11th after a pair of home-ice, 1-0 losses to the Western Mutangs, who jumped from fourth to second, behind the nation’s new No. 1 team, the McGill Redmen. Lakehead and Saint Mary’s were actually tied for 10th place, but the Huskies got the No. 10 nod because of a greater number of higher-placed votes.

The University of New Brunswick dropped to third from first and Moncton and Acadia rounded out the top five.

In men’s basketball there were no changes at the top.

The Wolves check in at No. 2 for the second straight week, following a pair of home-court wins over the McMaster Marauders. Carleton was the unanimous choice at No. 1.
