The hockey Thunderwolves are on a roll.
The Wolves thumped the host Nipissing Lakers 5-1 on Saturday to secure the weekend sweep, capturing their third straight OUA win to pull within a game of .500.
Brothers Brennen and Carson Dubchak each scored in the contest’s opening four minutes to stake the Thunderwolves to an early 2-0 lead. Ryan Magill added a third goal before the first period was over.
Up 3-1 after two period, Brennen Dubchak scored his second of the night 2:29 into the third, the eighth of his rookie campaign.
Mike Hammond finished the scoring midway through the period.
The Wolves, who return home to face UQTR, tied atop the OUA East. Lakehead (8-9-2) is sixth in the OUA West. With the loss Nipissing fell to 11-9-1.
