Wolves sweep RMC on volleyball court

On Saturday’s senior night, the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team came up big, beating the RMC Paladins 3-1 at the C. J. Sanders Fieldhouse in Thunder Bay. Set scores were 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-14.
On Saturday’s senior night, the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team came up big, beating the RMC Paladins 3-1 at the C. J. Sanders Fieldhouse in Thunder Bay. Set scores were 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-14.

For the second time this weekend, sophomore Vanessa Chorkawy stole the show, tallying a game-high 27 points including 22 kills, four services aces and one block. Senior middle Karla Brayshaw added 14 points while freshman setter Jenna McDonald set the table with 41 assists.

In her final game with the Thunderwolves, fifth-year senior Ashley Baer had seven points and 13 digs.

RMC was led by Melissa McCoy’s 12 points while Kelsey Chang had 10 points and a team-best 24 digs.

With the win, Lakehead (3-16) stays ahead of the last-place Paladins (1-18) in the OUA East Division at the completion of OUA conference play.
