The women’s basketball team on Friday dropped a 67-60 decision to host Winnipeg to kick off the annual Bob FM shootout.

Kelsey Bardsley and rookie Essa Jacobsen led the way for Lakehead, pitching in 13 points apiece in the loss, the Wolves first in four non-conference appearances. Rookie Katelyn Andrea had seven points and eigh boards, while Jacobsen pulled in a dozen rebounds for the double-double. Katie Ulakovic added 12 points for LU in the contest, which saw the Wolves down rally from eight down at the half to within two heading into the fourth.

But the Thunderwolves couldn’t overcome Winnipeg’s Megan Noonan, who dropped a game-high 27 points to power the Wesmen to the win.

Lakehead takes on Brandon on Saturday night and wrap up the weekend against Manitoba on Sunday.
