Such an excellent rate of pay for part-timers. Other than the mayor and possibly the deputy mayor, I'm fairly certain that all of the ward council members are able to work a second job. We actually have one councillor who is the employee of another councillor in their non-council roles. I have to wonder if there is a conflict of interest at any point in regards to this situation?

Why don't we build some of these fourplexes at the north west corner of Yonge Street and Mulock.

We could call them the Taylor Towns.

It might cover some of the 60 million dollars being spent currently on this property and project.

Where would we find year over year data regarding library membership numbers, loaned items and in-person visit data? I would like to see if there is actual growth. I find that the numbers quoted have no context. I am a library card holder, regular user and advocate for a new and improved space.

We went on Saturday. Sorry to report back that it was an underwhelming experience. The whole concept needs an overhaul. If I was bored, gosh I am sure the vendors were beside themselves and they had to pay to be there. What about entertainment? 50/50 draws? Door prizes? The local chamber, if you are listening, you can do better! Come on, now!
We also noticed that our local MP & MPP did not have booths this year.

A quick Google search:

The Grain Farmers of Ontario said their farmers could pay $2.7 billion in carbon pricing by 2030 if there is no exemption.

Farmers are already exempted from paying the carbon price on gas and diesel used in farm vehicles and machinery because there are no alternatives for them to choose.Jan 31, 2024

An even a better location for a development like this would be the north west corner of Yonge and Mulock. Does anyone out there remember when the town very surreptitiously amended the zoning on that property I think it would be about 10 years ago or so? The official plan had originally intended that to be developable land. It still should be.

If you want to have a truly amazing neighbourhood, please build in a community center, a small to medium sized shopping plaza, a connector road and foot trails to existing , adjacent neighbourhoods, and some affordable housing components, not just single family homes or McMansions. Let's accommodate all sorts of housing types. We have really done a spectacularly poor job of all of the above here in Newmarket.
