“We’re still out here doing what everyone else is doing, just not in an institution-type setting. We’re hitting the pavement on the streets,” says Kathleen Shimkoff, human resources coordinator for Bayshore Healthcare.

There have been many adjustments since last year, and Bayshore is proud to be a driving force for continuous education for their staff and clients.

“Our staff has been amazing and willing to go above and beyond for our organization and the people we touch daily, providing comfort and reassurance in uncertain times,” Shimkoff beams.
 

A supportive team

Since 1966, Bayshore has provided customized care plans and solutions that allow their clients to remain in the comfort of their own homes and continues to provide independence for their clients.

When COVID-19 created adversity for clients who needed extra assistance, many businesses were hesitant to step forward, creating difficulties for patients unable to care for themselves in a time already stressed with isolation.

“During the pandemic, Bayshore has remained a positive and stable presence in our client’s homes, which has enabled them to remain at home longer or return home from a hospital setting,” says Andrea Barnes, area director of Bayshore Thunder Bay.

Andrea, an RN, who has worked in the field as a nurse-understands the challenges as well as the needs of the field staff.

Committed to clients and staff

As Bayshore continues to provide services allowing people to re-establish their independence, they are also prioritizing their staff and the frontline workers making their services possible.

With their willingness to continue working through the ongoing changes, Bayshore has given more recognition to their staff than ever before.
