Wellness 3D: The three-dimensional look into wellness

Wellness 3D is helping local residents gain a three-dimensional perspective on fitness and wellness.

THUNDER BAY -- Do you ever think about what wellness means to you? For you, wellness could be the state of well-being; be it physical or mental. Maybe, you belong to those categories of people who believe that wellness is solely the reflection you see of yourself on the mirror or the reflection of the numbers you see on the scale. Either way, the meaning of wellness can take a lot of different shapes, sizes, and forms. For a lot of them, fitness and wellness are wholesome outlooks of life, which is what a local wellness store owner tries to encourage at Wellness 3D.

Wellness 3D, a fitness store and body scanning centre, opened its doors to the people of Thunder Bay a month ago, to help people gain a three-dimensional perspective on fitness and wellness, and cater to their needs, which reaches far beyond the numbers on the scale allowing clients to track a wide range of body metrics to see where improvement are taking shape.

Home to a large inventory of fitness equipment, Wellness 3D operates primarily as an equipment store carrying a variety of reasonably priced equipment from kettlebells to rowing machines. Having said that, the most unique aspect of Wellness 3D, like the name suggests, is its ability to provide a three-dimensional scans of a person’s body over time, which identifies accurate wellness measurements by utilizing technology created in partnerships between Fit3D and Dexa. Clients can even 3D print their scan into personal action figures for fitness keepsakes, show the stages of their pregnancy, or immortalize a legendary Halloween costume.

Wellness 3D is the only facility in Thunder Bay that provides 3D scanning services using technology to provide wellness metrics depending on the unique structure of each body.

The 3D technology helps create a three-dimensional avatar for a person’s body and identifies their wellness metrics. For example, the scanner takes a full body scan of you using digital cameras, results go directly to your email the same day, you can then set your own personal health goal; your goal can be anything from weight loss to body building. Once your goal is set, you can check back when you want to see your progress and track the changes by taking another scan. The 3D scanner tracks multiple changes about your body, from balance, posture, weight, to muscle and fat ratios.  Body shape metrics can also help in identifying if you are at risk of developing common ailments associated with where, and how much weight you are carrying.   The aim is to have people see themselves in a 3D space so they can set small achievable goals. Weight loss usually revolves around what people see on the scale, and we are trying to offer people the service to see wellness from another perspective and get their focus away from the scale. We want to improve health and wellness in people, and help them see their bodies positively as they track changes,” says Matthew Lawrence, the owner of Wellness 3D.

The facility’s primary clients are individuals with personal health goals, personal trainers, sports teams, medical professionals and practitioners. They offer discounts for packages, large groups, coaches, and medical professionals referring clients. Trainers, coaches, and medical professionals will have the ability to register in the 3D system to help track client progress and obtain results directly to their email.

Wellness 3D is growing slowly and will be offering additional services this spring, including red light therapy and automated massages beds to help meet client needs for a one-stop wellness shop.
