THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Half-Way Motors Fury Midget B closes out weekend series with 4 wins.
Teams from Fort Frances, Dryden and Thunder Bay played an exhibition series this weekend in Thunder Bay. After starting with wins against the Midget A Queens and Confederation College Thunderhawks, Half-Way Motors Midget Fury kept their winning streak when they met up with Fort Frances Muskies Sunday morning.
The Muskies opened up the scoring in the first period when Eilayna Kabel found the back of the net on the powerplay with helpers from Abby Kenny and Paiten Kinnear. The Fury stormed back in the second with Sydney White netting the equalizer assisted by Emma Albertson and Brooklyn Etreni. Fury would then take the lead on a powerplay goal by Vanessa Daniele from Julia Kaemingh. Fury would strike again on another powerplay late in the second with Albertson finding the back of the net, Etreni and White adding helpers. The Muskies would cut the lead to one late in the third with Issy Taylar scoring from Kinnaer and Jerzi Calder. That’s as close as they would get as Heather Semple would shut the door from there for a 3-2 win.
In game 2 of the day, Fury met up with a strong Bantam AA Queens team. Fury opened the scoring early in the first when Bella Carangi would spring White for a breakaway, White would make no mistake in finding the back of the net to make it 1-0. The Bantam AA Queens would tie the game on the powerplay early in the second with Joanne Martinsen scoring, Riah Compardo and Kathryn Lacosse with the helpers. Mac Cambly would break the tie on a powerplay early in the third with Grace Cahill assisting. That would be the eventual winner as Ella Auld would make some key saves and shut the door from there to make it a 2-1 win for the Fury.
Half-Way Motors Fury will hit the road for games in Kapuskasing this upcoming weekend where they will be in tough meeting some of the top Midget A teams in the region.
