This past week treated our local sailors to a truly beautiful evening on the water. Winds sat just above 10 knots — enough to keep things lively without making it a white-knuckle ride. The sky was in a mood, mixing bursts of sunshine with dramatic cloud banks, and the cooler temperatures gave the whole outing that impending crisp, autumn feel.
On the racecourse, things were just as interesting. The fleet stayed bunched up for most of the heats, leading to some close-quarters manoeuvring and, for one unlucky crew, the need to perform a penalty turn. It’s all part of the game, and they took it in stride.
By the end of the evening, Straight Jacket, Gong Show, and Blade Runner each sailed away with victories in their respective heats — proving once again that our little harbour produces some big sailing talent.
