THUNDER BAY -- Teams from Fort Frances, Dryden and Thunder Bay played an exhibition series this weekend at Fort William First Nation Arena.

Half-Way Motors Fury currently ranked fourth in Ontario in the Midget B division played up a division to take on the Thunder Bay Midget A Queens in their first exhibition game on Saturday morning.

The game began with both teams coming out hard, exchanging scoring chances early on. As the game went on the Fury started to take control outshooting the Queens. A late third period push by the Fury created a powerplay. Capitalizing on the powerplay, captain Sydney White beat Queen’s goalie Julia Fayrick with 44 seconds left in the third to take a lead 1-0. One goal proved to be enough as the Queens were unable to put one past Fury goalie Heather Semple.

The afternoon game saw the Fury play Confederation College Thunderhawks. Fury would open the scoring halfway through the first with a goal from Brooklyn Etreni. Mac Cambly would add one near the end of the first to make it 2-0. Marissa Anderson would answer with one in the second period to cut the lead in half. Fury came out strong in the third with Etreni adding two, Emma Albertson and Sydney Mosa adding one each for a 6-1 win.

Half-Way Motors Fury continue play on Sunday when they meet up with Fort Frances Muskies and the Bantam AA Queens.
