IB Programme continues with superior results!

The Lakehead Public Schools the International Baccalaureate Programme has continued its tradition of excellence at Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute.

THUNDER BAY -- The Lakehead Public Schools the International Baccalaureate Programme has continued its tradition of excellence at Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute following the move from the now-closed Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute.

The program has been offered to students for 18 years and continues to exceed the IB International Exam world average.

Students from the Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute International IB Programme undertook the International Exams in May 2019.

The average grade obtained by this class was 5.96 out of a possible 7 points compared to the world average of 4.54 out of a possible 7 points.

“We are very proud of the incredible efforts and results of made by our IB students in their new school,” says Clarke Loney, IB Programme Coordinator. “This year's candidates had a spectacular showing. Many of these students will now be rewarded with advanced standing credits in the Universities of their choosing in the fall."

The top Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute International IB candidate scored 42 out of a possible 45 points.

"Scoring 42 out of 45 points is truly remarkable and clearly demonstrates that these students will be well prepared University,” says Loney. “I am also confident that they will continue to strive to make the world a better place through advocacy and service,” says Loney.

The IB Programme at Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute is free for students of all jurisdictions in Thunder Bay.

Students must complete the Grade 9 and 10 IB courses and may continue on to the IB Programme with the recommendation of their intermediate teachers. Successful students in the IB Programme must also have the motivation and self-discipline required to succeed and complete this course of study.
