Kakabeka Falls Half Marathon returns

Organizers want to remind people to drive carefully around Kakabeka Falls this weekend.

KAKABEKA FALLS, Ont. -- The Kakabeka Falls Legion is hosting its third annual Half Marathon in honour of the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

Runners will be out both days this weekend Saturday, Aug. 17 from approximately 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. runners will be along the eastbound shoulders of the road between the Legion and the Provincial Park. Traffic will not be stopped.

On Sunday, Aug. 18, Trans Canada between Highway 588 and Pole Line Road will be closed from approximately 6:55 a.m. until 7:20 a.m. and Highway 588 between Highway 11/17 and the Stanley Hotel will be closed from approximately 7 a.m. to 740 a.m. All under control of the Ontario Provincial Police.

Further, there will be short; adhoc stoppage of traffic in front of the Kakabeka Falls Legion to permit runners to cross these stoppages, as well will be under the control of the OPP and solely to permit runners to cross safely. All runners will be finished by 11 a.m. Please be aware of the area and don't hesitate to honk in support of those out there achieving their goals.
