Northwest Narwhal swim club brings home 72 medals

One hundred thirty-six athletes from 6 Northwestern Ontario swim clubs traveled to Dryden, Ontario.

THUNDER BAY -- One hundred thirty-six athletes from 6 Northwestern Ontario swim clubs traveled to Dryden, Ontario over the Nov. 9-10 weekend to compete in the Dryden Dolphins Splash Invitational 2019 Swim Meet.

Twelve members of the Northwest Narwhal’s Swim Club made the journey. 

The group accounted for 72 medals of which 35 were gold, 21 were silver and 16 were bronze. 

The swimmers also accounted for 60 personal best times. 

Medal winners included Diego Barcena-Martinez, Ana Lucia Barcena-Martinez, Katelyn Battigelli, Nicholas Battigelli, Paige Brown, Helen Crowe, Liam Francis, Maddox Holmes, Marko Iwanyszyn, Mikayla Lambert, Ella Opaski and Mathew Waddington.

Next up, the Narwhal’s will be hosting the Northwest Narwhal 20th Anniversary Regional Invitational sponsored by Massaro Construction LTD on Nov. 23-24th.
