THUNDER BAY -- CIBC is committed to support causes that matter to our communities. On Nov. 1, 2019 the advisors and staff at CIBC Wood Gundy donated $2,000, to Community Clothing Assistance, a United Way Agency in support of the UNDERCOVER Project. In the past year, CIBC has invested more than $70 million in community organizations across Canada and the U.S. through more than 2,200 charitable organizations.

This includes over $45 million incorporate contributions and more than $25 million in employee – led fundraising and giving.

David Andrews, President and Dr. Brian Scott, Senior Vice President of Community Clothing Assistance are please to accept the donation on behalf of CCA from the Management, Advisors and staff of CIBC Wood Gundy.

What then is the UNDERCOVER Project? Why is the project so important to the Thunder Bay Community?

The UNDERCOVER Project provides seven pairs of new socks and underwear to children in need, age 4 – 14. This project was undertaken when it brought to the attention of Community Clothing Assistance that children were going to school without these bare necessities. With these items, the children experienced greater comfort and more confidence among their peers. Vouchers for a week’s supply of socks and underwear are distributed through the Christmas Cheer Foundation and volunteers provided by the UNIFOR Local 229 Women’s Committee. This year the vouchers will be handed out on Dec. 17 and 18 between 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the CLE Coliseum. They are redeemable at the Community Clothing Assistance store location for 8 months from Dec. 1 to the end of July, the following year.

Since 2007, the UNDERCOVER Project has provided NEW socks and underwear for nearly 11,000 under privileged children. The budget for 2019 is $44,150 and we hope the community will help us with this endeavour by providing their support financially, with purchases of socks and underwear or by giving their time.

The Distribution Center is located at 404 North May Street, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please contact us under this number: (807) 474-3582 and admin@clothingassistance.com.

We welcome any help for this valuable service to the most vulnerable of our community.
