Youth bowlers win national hardware

Teams win two national gold titles and earn one silver medal.

Thunder Bay 5-pin youth bowlers stole the show at the Youth Bowl Canada 5 Pin National Championships in Oshawa May 5-7.

Representing Northern Ontario, doubles teams from the 3 local bowling centres returned home with 2 national champion teams and one silver medal winning doubles team.

The bantam girls (age 10 & under) national champions are Karmyn Zewiec, Kayleen Kajorinne and coach Katie Bonnie from Superior Bowladrome.  

The doubles team of Hailey Beswetherick, Jordyn Graham and coach Stacey Hames from Mario's Bowl captured the gold in the junior girls division (age 11-14).

The silver medal winning team in the junior boys division was Sayer Sawchuk, Adam Meier and coach Darren Davies out of Galaxy Lanes.  

Christopher Huls, Henry Maa-Hacquoil and coach Tammy Harkonen (Mario's Bowl) finished 5th in the senior boys event (age 15-20).
