Aggravated assault sends one man to hospital

Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old following an altercation early Monday morning.

GREENSTONE, Ont. -- One man was taken to hospital early Monday morning following a stabbing on the First Nation Territory of Long Lake 58.

Ontario Provincial Police received a report of a stabbing just before 2 a.m. on the First Nation Territory of Long Lake 58.

Officers attended a residence to find a male with multiple stab wounds to his hands and torso.

Police say the victim was transported to hospital to be treated for his wounds.

The investigation revealed that the victim had been involved in an altercation with another individual at a local residence.

A person of interest was located in the near vicinity on foot and was arrested.

The scene has been secured and is being processed by the OPP Forensic Identification Unit.

The victim is being flown to Thunder Bay for further evaluation.

Police charged an 18-year-old from Long Lake 58 First Nation with aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm.

The accused is currently being held in custody for a bail hearing later this date.
