June 1, 2016 – The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to welcome a Tai Chi delegation from the University of Seniors through the University of Minnesota, June 1-3.  The 40-member delegation will be arriving in Thunder Bay today to explore our City and participate in a number of activities with Thunder Bay’s Sister Cities Advisory Committee.

The group will complete a half-day Tai Chi Qigong training session with Master Peng You at his studio on Thursday, June 2, and then participate in a large Tai Chi display at the Waterfront made up of members from both cities on Friday, at 8:30 am.

The Sister Cities delegation will also tour Kakabeka Falls, Prince Arthur’s Landing with Tourism Thunder Bay Manager Paul Pepe, Fort William Historical Park and attend the Thunder Bay Border Cats VS Duluth Huskies game on Thursday at Port Arthur Stadium Thursday evening.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to welcome a substantial delegation from our Sister City in Duluth, showcase some of Thunder Bay’s unique assets and share our fantastic Tai Chi culture thanks to Master Peng You,” said Krista Power, Acting City Clerk.

“We look forward to welcoming the delegation and building on the connections we share that include the tie to our post-secondary institutions, recreation and Tai Chi, waterfront tourism and our ongoing friendly rivalry through the Northwoods Baseball League.”
