COVID-19 outbreak declared over at Southbridge Pinewood

An outbreak of COVID-19 that began on July 18 has been declared over, leaving 10 active outbreaks in vulnerable settings in the district.

THUNDER BAY – An outbreak of COVID-19 that was declared at the Southbridge Pinewood long-term care home on July 18 is now over, health authorities report.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit declared the outbreak over in a statement Thursday, saying expanded precautions had been implemented during the outbreak.

The outbreak had impacted the home’s Kingfisher resident area.

The health unit was tracking 10 active COVID-19 outbreaks in vulnerable settings across the Thunder Bay district as of Friday, including at Hogarth Riverview Manor, Geraldton District Hospital, Chartwell's Arundel retirement residence, Pioneer Ridge, the Wilkes Terrace long-term care home, and the Thunder Bay regional hospital's 1A unit.
