Brandie Mabee is always on Facebook.

“I get notifications popping up on my phone all day, so I’ll check them as they come up. I would say I probably spend an hour every night on my laptop kind of actively creeping Facebook,” said the 23-year-old Thunder Bay native.

The University of Waterloo student’s profile is littered with photos of her partying, travelling and various other activities, including her elaborate Halloween costumes.

That made her an ideal contestant for MTV Creeps.

The show features three contestants per episode that have their Facebook profiles scrutinized by a trio of judges. They ask for explanations about posted items and then choose which contestant they’ll add as a friend, which one they’ll unfriend and one they’ll possibly add later.

Mabee was the winner of this past Tuesday’s episode and continues onto the quarter-finals, which will film in late May.

The judges asked Mabee about her love for both Marilyn Monroe and Marilyn Manson and also had her demonstrate her ability to shotgun a beer and to shoot a moving target with a paintball gun.

“I had a feeling there were certain things they were going to ask me about,” she said. “I felt really lucky because most of the contestants that go on the show get torn apart. They’ll dig up dirt on these people and it will be really controversial stuff.”

Since joining Facebook in 2006, Mabee’s friend count was four people shy of 1,600 as of Friday afternoon.

She likes the site because it helps her keep in touch with more people on a regular basis.

“There are people I am Facebook friends with I know personally but we wouldn’t make an effort to actually talk to each other or hang out in real life,” she said. “The fact we are on Facebook and it’s so accessible to talk to each other and share things brings us a lot closer.”

The winner of MTV Creeps will get their own reality show on the network. Mabee said she’s excited for the quarter-finals and would love to win her own reality show.

While the premise for the reality show or whether the winner would get a creative say isn’t known at this time, if chosen the winner Mabee would love to have a show centered around the adventures she has with her closest girlfriends.

“I would love for them to follow us and show all the shenanigans we get ourselves into,” she said. “Most of all I’d really love for them to come to Thunder Bay because I’ve always thought Thunder Bay would be the coolest place for a reality show to take place.”

Episodes of MTV Creeps can be seen on mtv.ca.
