THUNDER BAY — Police have charged a city driving instructor with several infractions after pulling the man over while he was en route to work in a company vehicle.
A Thunder Bay Police Service officer conducted a traffic stop just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday because he was allegedly using his cell phone while driving.
The officer also found he hadn't been wearing his seatbelt.
That still wasn't the end of his problems, as police said the officer also detected alcohol on the man's breath.
A test conducted at roadside showed his blood alcohol concentration was in the "warn range" of 50-80 mgs.
In a social media post, the TBPS traffic unit called the incident it "a very troubling stop on many fronts."
The driver, whose identity has not been released by police, was issued two tickets and a three-day licence suspension.
"He will not be conducting any driving lessons today," police noted in their Facebook post.
The charges against the man have not been tested in court.
