NEEBING -- The Municipality of Neebing has declared a fire ban.

Fire Chief Mark Shruiff, in a post to Facebook, announced the ban went into effect at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Nearby South Gilles also declared a fire ban on Thursday.

No burning will be allowed in the municipality until the threat of fire is abated and the ban is lifted. No new fire permits will be issued during the ban and all existing permits are temporarily suspended until the ban is lifted.

Residents and visitors are asked to take extra care and avoid outdoor activities that may generate sparks. They're also asked to remain vigilant for any signs of fire.

If one sees a fire, or suspect one is in one's neighbourhood, call 911.
